The photo above is one I took several Florida autumns ago. Man I love this time of year.

I don’t know what it is about this time of year that moves me… but it does. Everything feels so magical, from Samhain (Halloween) on to the New Year. The air feels and smells different. Perhaps it’s a change in the direction of the wind — here  you can smell the sea drifting through the late afternoon and night air. The smell is more profound than any other time of year… the wind is cool and can get chilly at night.  Taking a night walk on the beach is one of my favorite things to do this time of year… it’s cold enough to wear a sweater, but the sand is still warm enough from the day’s sun to walk barefoot. It’s perfection.

While I do long for a drastic change in season, I can’t deny that I love this time of year in the tropics.

This last Halloween/Samhain was wonderful. We normally play upon the change of season a bit more, but this year we had a little fun and hit the spooky note. With friends in from town, lots of good food, our cups full of meed and the spooks out at night… it really was a great time.

This Samhain brought on a lot of changes for us — I look on to the rest of the year being a great one. Not just because this is my favorite time of the year… but because every once and a while, your life shifts… and this shift we are experiencing brings forth so much promise of new and great things.

Namaste!
