Welcome to GeekyBitch
If you are visiting the site and expecting to see the old content, we will be adding it back soon. For now, just know we have a lot of new features and will be releasing more as the site gets developed. You can look forward to downloads, tutorials, tech help, tech jobs, articles, blogs and more.
What's the point of the site?
Well, there really isn't a point. The site is geared toward women in the IT industry, however, anyone is welcome. We are not here to do some sort of service for anyone. We put together this site partly for our own benefit and partly to hang out with other geeks.
Some of the goals of this site:
- Meet other people within our industry.
- Share, teach and learn from others.
- Provide a place to go to for help.
- Just to have fun.
Ok, who's running the show?

I have been a developer for about 12 years. I am in the midst of writing a book, running several online communities, playing around with personal projects, and getting back on task with what I want to be when I grow up. When I get the chance, keep up with my gamer friends. More personal? Somewhere in the midst of all of this I am working on exalting to Goddess status.
Concerning that last statement, I will leave that to your imagination. ;)
So, what's the deal with this site? It's a place I can voice my rather colorful perspective on being a female geek. If along the way I network with others, particularly female geeks, all the better. Why female geeks? I have found that there is a small number of women whom are "highly-geekafied-intellectuals" whom have not lost their identity to stereotyping.
Disclaimer: This blog might cause some to feel threatened by my musings. Others will mistake confidence for arrogance. Then there are those that are so wrapped up in semantics that my words will offend. For example, the word: Bitch. Also, while I try to prevent typos, misspellings and grammar errors... after a long day of work, I can give two-shits (but not three) about my writing.
If you meet the criteria in my Disclaimer, please press Alt + F4 on your keyboard, NOW. Oh and: "01100010 01101001 01110100 01100101 01101101 01100101" (that's bite me in binary)
Games of Interest:
- World of Warcraft
- Eve Online
- D&D
My first real MMORPG playtime was with Star Wars Galaxies (SWG). I played it for a few years until World of Warcraft was released and all of our guild members switched. At the time I played with LotD (Lords of the Dead) in SWG and also for awhile in WoW. For various reasons, mostly time issues, I moved on and started playing with Legion.
About a year and half ago I took a stab at Eve Online, love it, but none of my friends play. I play Eve when I am not really looking to socialize much. The graphics and interface is badass, I will admit. I also enjoy the fact you can pay for your subscription with actual in-game gold. Grinding is an improvement as well. Another good thing about Eve is that the players are a little older. Not that I have an issue with kids playing WOW, but sometimes being an adult in an underage group can really test your patience. It's very easy to find yourself wanting to bitch out a 12 year old. Which is lame.
SWG, when it first came out, seemed to have more adult gamers as well. I went back to see how SWG was holding up and it now sucks in my opinion. Completely different from what it was when I originally played. The other thing that really blows is that EVERYONE is a friggin Jedi. WTF. You can start out as a Jedi now. The whole lure to the game during my days (besides the theme) was the possibility of becoming a Jedi, but with effort and a challenge. D&D is decent. It overall fits what a good game should be. Since I love Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate, D&D struck my fancy. (As it should since they are all D&D.)
My main game play though is still with WOW and not AOC. I have been away for a few months due to work, but I am finding my way back to playing at least every other day. The best part is that I am getting in "WOW Date Nights" with the hubby again. What better way to spend your time together than playing WOW, drinking a few ice cold Smithwicks and Pvping?
My "main alts" are a 43 Warlock, 56 Paladin and my new favorite, the
Priest.

Thank you GettyImages for charging me an outrageous amount for the black and white chick that "sort of looks like me."
Thank you James for hanging in there and humoring me as I attempt to take over the world. You're support is amazing and your love is unwavering.
Thank you Kari McGrady for making the black and white chick look more like me with the whole hair thing. You rock in so many ways.
Thank you Cheri for listening to all of my geek rants, and other kinds of rants Sometimes wine induced. Which I might add, inspired this blog. Your a true friend, and those are very rare.
Thanks goes to my kids... for existing.
Thank whatever influence I had in my life that gave me the confidence to stand on my little soapbox, and not give a rat's ass about stereo-types.
